You guys will come to learn that I absolutely love baking and cooking. Culinary school used to be a dream, but it was replaced by my dreams of Georgetown, a decision I’m happy with! My mom has been my best teacher when it comes to cooking, but baking is a different ballpark for her and my comfort zone. I will bake any time, but whenever I have a test that doesn’t go well or a bad day, baking in my dorm’s common room is where you’ll find me. These cupcakes were from this recipe and are HEAVEN! http://melssweetlife.wordpress.com/2012/01/22/peanut-butter-oreo-cupcakes/

Mel suggests using it to make friends, and that we did. We had a storewide meeting for J.Crew tonight, and me and another friend, Barbara, made these to help break the ice. Instead of just regular cupcakes, we made the majority mini so they could be a quick snack. We left out the Reese’s on the inside, but the frosting was AMAZING and I was so happy with the way that it turned out. (Literally wanted to package it and just eat it with a spoon. Bad, I know.)

P.S. Those last photos are a few from some J.Crew styling sessions. We may or may not have gotten a little carried away… 🙂 (I’m in the middle!)

I decided two put together two of my favorite things today, and the combination was amazing. The chewy texture and delicious taste of lobster was only magnified by the best of comfort foods, macaroni cheese.

To make this you can either make macaroni and cheese from scratch (this is a great recipe http://www.kevinandamanda.com/recipes/side-dishes/mac-cheese.html) or use a boxed mix. If you’re going to use a boxed mix, go for something that is creamier or “deluxe.” I used steamed lobster, de-shelled it, chopped up the meat and tossed it into the pasta after it was done cooking. Next I added the cheese and other ingredients and it was done. Simple, easy, but so delicious! Finish it off with a glass of iced tea and you have a great summertime meal.
