tumblr_mbjik1PCOe1riy8nao1_500i love this quote, plain and simple. sometimes in life you can try to make everyone happy, please everyone, but in the end you yourself won’t be happy, or true to yourself. finals are coming up (along with christmas!!) but during this time i need to take these words to heart. it may be a bit straightforward, but it gets the point across.

so as an ode to “following your intuition” here is a tribute to shoes, and legs, and walking in the literal sense, but try to envision the figurative message i’m trying to convey..

for me, the end of november signals the end of fall, and all the crisp leaves and autumnal colors that come with it. although winter technically doesn’t arrive until the 21st of december, as soon as december 1st hits i’m in complete winter/holiday mode (which you all will soon see). those famous words immortalized through the outsiders, robert frost’s words may seem ominous, but in reality it’s how you choose to interpret these words.. and i believe there comes a time for us to move on, and accept change, even though it may not be easy.

being home is one of the best feelings in the whole entire world. minus the fact i had wisdom teeth removal surgery yesterday (which is not fun, at all) and am on bed rest, there is no where else i’d rather be. post thanksgiving i’m usually in a food coma and preparing for christmas, and except for the food coma, the same applies. miracle on 34th street is on tv, a fire is blazing, cotton gauze is in my mouth, and right now all is good. i’ll be going back to school in a few days, where the work will once again pick up, but this christmas season i plan on making time for baking, decorating, holiday movie watching, ice skating… the list goes on and on.

so for everyone, wherever they may be, enjoy the ones you’re worth and cherish all the resulting moments.

this friday i will not be participating in black friday due to an out-of-nowhere surgery because of a wisdom tooth gone awry. instead i’ll have to wait until cyber monday, and hopefully make some purchases then..  if any of those items end up going on sale, i’ll snatch them up in a second. or i may be on too many painkillers and end up missing the whole thing. two thumbs up for modern medicine!

i saw this quote recently and it has managed to stick with me. there are so many moments in my life when i look at the people around me, at the situation i’m in, and feel content. i know… content may seem boring, but since life tends to get stressful, being content and happy with where you are and who you are with can sometimes be the best feeling.

finding inspiration is important, at least in my life. it can be from something as small as a color i like, or a book i read, a quote i hear, or a talk with a friend, but for me these little things make a big difference.

the title of this post is probably the closest representation of my relationship with fashion. my love for clothes and my “obsessive tendency” of checking up on my favorite brands and fashion blogs could be considered a crime (in the terms of stalking/possible restraining orders against me from websites, which if they existed i would have)… the punishment is even worse: new arrivals or holiday collections. it doesn’t sound like a punishment, but it is. if i could (and i would) i’d spend ALL my money on clothes, but at least i have a bit of restraint, and i’ve gotten much better about impulse buying. my biggest tip is favoriting things you love and waiting to see how long you think about them… if you forget about them delete it from your bookmarks, if not get it or wait for a sale. now before i get off topic again, let’s talk about madewell’s newest arrivals. literal perfection. the combination of color, warm and cozy textures, plaid and printed patterns, comfy accessories, and most of all, glitter, has me freaking out. the following outfits are so lust-worthy and definitely have a pieces i may have already splurged on… (sorry that the trapper hat looks like the most amazing thing ever)

a few days ago i got an email from kate spade, mentioning a sale they were having so they could make room for new items.. holiday items. of course i freaked out (internally) and waited for the email stating when the new items were released. after getting an email from kate spade, i went over to their website and chose my favorite items. a few of these will definitely be on my holiday wish list! the only thing i wished to see was a release of some iphone 5 cases, so kate spade please get on that!

Imagei am constantly amazed by:

1. how quickly time flies by

2. the ever growing lack of time in my life

i feel as if i’m always told to seize the day, enjoy the moments, etc., but in all honesty this can be difficult to do. my workload seems to be constantly increasing, and the more i get done, the more seems to be due, and so on and so forth. i have a slight conflict with living in the present, because my mind is wrapped up in the future, and i miss out on what’s happening around me. fall is finally here, and i would love to be able to enjoy it… after midterms i should be able to take a leisurely walk around georgetown just because i want to, instead of doing it to fulfill a task. i give myself credit for recognizing that i need to situate myself in the present, but i need to do more to act upon it. so instead of a new year’s resolution, i have a fall resolution: embrace the present, let go of the past, and don’t focus too much on the future.. (also another resolution will be to cut down on my online shopping habits, oops.)
