{ getting the new room all set up }

hello and goodbye to september, you were here and gone oh, so quickly. i’ve been told that you won’t really realize college is over until you get to october, and it starts to hit you. this is true… i’ve started to realize now more than ever, “here i am in the real world, and i’m not going anywhere.” it’s been a realization, but that’s what happens when you’re growing up… or so i’ve been told. here’s a little look into my september, which i still can’t believe is over.

{ commemorating my last trip back to georgetown after a school break }

i already wrote a post about georgetown and how graduating could not have been more bittersweet. the last few months of school sped by, and today i find myself starting my first day of work at l’oréal. the excitement is very real (and i’ll have some beauty-inspired posts to come), but before i start this new chapter i wanted to wrap it up with a few pictures capturing the end of my georgetown (and college) career.

clock tower

the day has come where i no longer can call myself a student of georgetown university. instead i am a graduate, an alum, and my time at georgetown has come to an end. there have been so many blog posts on here where i have talked about making the most of the short time i had left at my home on the hilltop. however, deep down a part of me wasn’t letting myself believe that it was going to happen. but here i am, all moved out and back home, and the time has come for me to face the real world. driving away from georgetown was the most surreal experience, an experience that was filled with nerves, sadness, and excitement. i have learned so much about myself in my last four years of school, and am so grateful for my georgetown experience since it has shaped the person i have become. here are the few things i have learned during college:

– caffeine isn’t always necessary. i’m pretty proud that i was able to finish my college career without a coffee addiction (scratch that, i still hate coffee).

– sleep is my best friend. yes, i’ve always known that, but living a college lifestyle takes this appreciation to a whole new level.

– pursuing your passions will make a world of a difference. i kept up this blog, continued to grow my love for beauty, studied marketing and classics, worked hard, and i would like to think it has paid off. it’s helped me develop my own personal identity, influenced by different things i love and appreciate, and i’m so thankful for that.

– family is everything. when times are tough and heartache plentiful, family will be there for you, and you’ll be there for them. they’ll also be there during the good times to share in your happiness, and will be there during all times in-between.

– friends become your second family and support network, and saying goodbye to them is bittersweet. while i know i’ll see them again since i’ve made some best friends for life, living with your friends and seeing them constantly is something that will be missed. cherish every moment with your people.

– sweetgreen, you have been everything to me. thank you.

– always allow yourself a break. even when you think you don’t need it, you actually might. whether it’s a nap, a walk, or a netflix mini-binge, just do it.

– if you’re lucky enough your school may become your second home. though it may be incredibly hard to leave, this means that your time there has been so well worth it, and for that you should be grateful. i know i am.

march has come and gone in a blink of an eye, and graduation announcement emails have been steadily coming into my inbox. with these emails comes a whole lot of nostalgia, a sprinkle of disbelief, a tad bit of excitement, and a heaping of what happened to the last four years? until my next post, here’s march through some instagram snapshots.

march state of the unionspring is finally here and my current “favorites” reflect that. i can finally hang up my winter jacket (hopefully there won’t be freak weather) and put my timbs into storage, and break out some sandals, ripped jeans and white t-shirts (a.k.a. my spring wardrobe).

what i’m eating | sweetgreen is right down the block from my apartment, and now that spring is here i will start getting way more frozen yogurt than i should. soon strawberries will be back and i’ll be adding them to my favorite salad (spinach, romaine, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, avocado, roasted broccoli, pita chips, goat cheese, chicken and balsamic dressing).

what i’m listening to | i can listen to mumford and sons all the time. this isn’t an exaggeration… senior year of high school i listened to their album every single day while working on our yearbook. their new album is coming out soon, and while it has a different sound, i couldn’t be more excited. check out their new song here.

what i’m reading | i absolutely love to bake, and collecting cookbooks definitely fuels my love. there are a few cookbooks that i want to get, but ovenly seems great. just take a look at the cover, and i think you’ll agree.

what i’m watching | i wanted to see wild while it was in theaters, but that didn’t happen. so instead i’ve been waiting for it to be released, and now that it’s finally out i can watch it.

what i’m wearing | i have been wearing this perfume now that it’s warmer out, this nude lip balm, and this ring.

what i’m lusting after | sandals are coming back into my life, and i really like these ones.

spring break lust list

a choker that i love in theory, but probably won’t ever wear | a big fan of these aviators | this (in the polynesian print) could be a coverup or even a dress | i love bright lips, especially when it’s sunny and warm | the perfect beach bag | channeling my inner beach babe with this necklace | these shoes are great, plain and simple | one of my favorite warm weather makeup items | a hat to stop sunburn | something to manage my hair | SPF is 100% necessary for my skin and this stuff is my favorite

spring break is less than a week away, and this is the first time i will ever be leaving the country. so not only am i going on my first (and last) college spring break, but i will be traveling outside of america for the first time. there won’t be any posts up on here while i’m gone, but i’ll definitely have pictures after!

every time i do one of these posts, i feel like i’m saying the same thing… “wow, i can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by. where has the month gone?” hate to say it, but it’s true. february was an absolute blur, and now march is here, seemingly out of nowhere. the whole “time is speeding by thing” may just be exacerbated by the fact that i’m in the second semester of my senior year, and everything seems to be happening so quickly. before i start talking about seizing the day and all those clichés, i’m going to stop myself and save that for the actual last few weeks of senior year.

{ a little bit of new years jubilee }

i know that january isn’t over yet, but it’s getting pretty close to the end of the month. this weekend is going to be super busy, because it’s senior parents weekend at georgetown and i’m helping to plan it. i decided to jump the gun on this post, which hopefully isn’t a bad decision… who knows, i might even have enough photos from this weekend that i can do a separate post, but you’ll have to wait and see! while you wait, you should get ready for the best super bowl post ever. (do you sense any dramatics?)

study essentials

 the saying goes that christmas time is the most wonderful time of the year… but i honestly think that the study days before finals, and even the days that i have finals, deserve this title. that’s obviously a complete joke, and this is one of the more stressful times of year, but this is the last time i’ll be taking finals for a fall semester. instead of freaking out about the end of college (which is going to happen), i decided to take an “artistic” study break and make a collage of my studying essentials. in no particular order, these are what keep me sane:

my favorite sweatshirt in the whole world that i’ve worn way too much // my glasses usually sub in for my contacts when my eyes feel as if they’ve gone to hell and back // iced green tea with a little bit of vanilla which i refill many times from the coffee shop in the library // my skin gets dry during the winter, but especially during finals. this lotion helps stop that // i’ve made way too many trips to sweetgreen, but it’s worth it // i’ve been catching up on the second season of vikings whenever i need a study break // god bless the frank sinatra channel on pandora, which has some of my favorite music to listen to // waffle crisp used to be my favorite guilty pleasure cereal, but i haven’t been able to find it for the longest time… i’ve been craving it like crazy, and i’m this close to hunting it down on amazon // my caffeine fix is a skim chai latte from starbucks // nest’s moss and mint candle is what i would call a “relaxing” candle // papermate’s mechanical pencils are my favorite and i use them in every test i’ve ever taken at georgetown // bite’s bb balm in natural is the holy grail of chapsticks

megan-georgetownINSLEEi’m back at georgetown and honestly it feels like i never left.. i’ve said this multiple times, but it’s so true. once i step foot on campus and see healy hall for the first time, it’s as if summer barely happened. this semester will most definitely be a different one (friends studying abroad, new classes, clubs to administer, etc.), but i couldn’t be more excited. as of now i’m still working with my roommates to finish up our apartment (it takes time!), but when it’s done i promise all photos will be up here. my bedroom is a totally different story though… i have yet to tackle putting away my shoes and i still don’t think i’m ready for it.

now for the “coolest” part of this post… the illustration above was created for me by inslee. i interviewed her last year for the her campus georgetown branch, and afterwards was able to work with her to commission a print. i basically wanted a georgetown girl, and inslee more than delivered. while i was way too afraid to transport this to college with me (it’s hanging in a frame at home), i figured printing it out and putting in a frame here at school would work just as well. so until next time, which i promise will be soon, hoya saxa. (if you don’t know what this means, look it up)
