people, people, people… if you haven’t heard of gray malin it’s time that you do. his prints are insane and some of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. i may or may not dream of the day that i possibly could have one of his prints, but until that day i’ll just look online (over and over again). his prints are all of beautiful beaches and the way he captures the colors of umbrellas or even just the water is mind-blowing. so although summer may be winding down, which i hate to even admit, as cheesy as this sounds gray malin prints make me feel like it will always be summer. yes, i just said that, so it’s time for me to get back to watching the leftovers (so dark, but so good).
samudra bags are the best // the go-to pair of sunglasses // keep calm and wear lipstick // a camera that would be great for taking some artsy cherry blossom pictures (if they ever bloom) // a small bag for someone who doesn’t like to carry any bag // a dress that looks as comfy as pajamas // a BAM pair of summer sandals // a hat i wish i could wear
the weather here in d.c. has been absolutely insane… one day it seems like it’s about to get nice and warm, and the next it’s snowing and we have a delay in classes. i’m holding out hope that spring weather is right around the corner, and it should be, but the wait has me imagining summer. so until the spring temperatures arrive, i’ll be looking up warm weather clothes and pretending i’m in some tropical place.
the other day i was going through some of my favorite blogs and i came across a post on a piece of toast which was right up my alley. it wasn’t fashion-inspired per se, but was about the little things in life. if you know me, or can learn anything about me from this blog, i am all about the little things in life. it also helps that the post happened to feature my favorite ice cream/sorbet/fro-yo flavor of all time, peach haagen dazs sorbet. let alone the sorbet, all the pictures in the post happened to be absolute perfection. on that note it got me to thinking what my favorite “little things” are, and while i could easily go on and on, i figured i’d share a few here with you:
1. peach haagen dazs sorbet (i had to)
2. a huge iced green tea with vanilla (actually an addiction)
3. that feeling you get after seeing a really good movie and being so fulfilled/happy you think your chest is going to burst (i swear this is real)
4. snuggling up in a really comfy blanket, reading an amazing book by the fire, while it’s snowing (if this has never happened to you, i promise it’s worth it)
5. any type of friends marathon
6. when i can sleep a little bit longer than originally planned (literally, i can sleep for the longest time.. like get up walk around, get some water, and go back to sleep. i don’t know if this is normal, but i like this ability so it is what it is)
7. seeing one of my favorite bands in concert (lumineers post coming up soon!)
8. decorating, plain and simple.
9. curling up in my bed, catching up on my favorite tv show
10. finding that perfect something you didn’t know was missing in your life
during the week while i’m driving to work (pretending i’m going to the beach) i listen to my summer playlist. nonstop. i’m the kind of person who gets easily frustrated by radio commercials or songs i don’t like on the radio. you wouldn’t think it’s a bad quality to have, but i start to freak out a tad bit when i can’t find songs to listen to. although i love when one of my favorite songs plays on the radio, sometimes the wait isn’t worth it. instead i turn to my summer sounds (so cheesy), and they keep me calm enough to not enter another state of mind, road rage.

this may sound totally weird, but there is nothing i love more than grouping photos together.. yes, grouping photos together. now it isn’t as simple as grabbing one here and one there, instead i actually try to find ones that fit together like a puzzle. i can see people reading this and thinking “well, that’s easy” or “well, that’s stupid”, but it is something that both calms me and lets me be creative without have to use up too much energy (seeing that i’m running a bit low on it these days due to lack of sleep). anyways i always find myself searching through my pinterest or my tumblr and just grouping together photos, depending on how i’m feeling, what month it is, yadda, yadda, yadda. i’ve been working on my desktop background for july and that has been tedious…(if you consider putting pictures together tedious, which it can be!) so here are some photos for all of you to enjoy, god knows i “worked” on them.
if you guys don’t already, i most definitely recommend that you start following the blog, love taza. it follows the davis family: mom, dad and two little bubbas, eleanor and samson. i kid you not these children are some of the cutest i have ever seen, and they make me want to return to my days of babysitting and camp counseling. they are always smiling and happy, and i have a feeling it has something to do with their too cool for school mama. if i could be half as coo/amazing a mom as taza then i’ll be doing something right (this won’t be for awhile though, still in college!!) anyways the whole point of this post was to show the amazing 1st birthday party samson had. it was new york themed and although it was for a baby, i most definitely would love to have the same kind of party, but with some more “adult” things.
as many of you guys know i am more than obsessed with stripes… it’s really bad. i see them, in any form, and try to convince myself its necessary to get them. it’s a habit i’m breaking, but a habit nonetheless. anyways, the majority of bloggers i follow tend to rock stripes in so many different ways. the upside about this is that i can dream up different outfits with pieces i already have thanks to these blogs. the downside is that i may see them wearing something that i could define as life-changing (me being dramatic) and favorite it, watch it obsessively, hoping it goes on sale, ultimately falling into an endless cycle.
a few months ago i wrote about one of my favorite bloggers, sincerely, jules, and how much i wish i could look as stylish as her a in sweatshirt. if i could pull of a sweatshirt like she does i would do it all the time.. (currently working on this since i just look like a mess). anyways, i decided to start a series where i’d feature some of my favorite outfits from some of my favorite bloggers. even though i’ve already done a post on jules before, i had to do an updated one. as i mentioned before the only way i can think of to describe her is simply that she is the shit. pardon me, but it’s true. her style is the definition of california cool, and if anyone could push me to wear a pair of high tops with a dress or heels during the day, it’s jules. i love how i talk as if i know her, even though i clearly don’t, but she is one of those bloggers you want to know. i could totally see us hanging out at the beach or browsing the shelves at zara, but that sounds so creepy so i’m going to stop. all in all she seems like a fashion buddy/a friend you’d want at your side, so i’m more than happy to kick off this series with her.
i have a confession to make… i’ve hopped onto the pinterest bandwagon. when i say i fought this for about a year, i’m not kidding. i even made an account and then refused to use it, but it was for a good reason. i knew i’d become addicted, and i was right. knowing me i couldn’t just have any names for my boards, so when i tell you that i spent a good time brainstorming some “witty names” (that aren’t all that witty) i’m not exaggerating. pinterest has become a process, but it’s a process i love. planning for next year’s dorm decorations has already begun, and i have been working on my summer loving board like no tomorrow. if i’ve been off of my computer for a while i will sit and scroll back until i find my last pin, and start looking at other pins from there. i’d say i wasn’t addicted, but that’s a lie… (seeing that i have every possible form of it downloaded: phone, iPad, etc.) i’m still on the hunt for other pinners to follow, which gives me just another excuse to keep on pinning… or this whole post may be a cry for help in stopping this obsession (but not really).
