favorite fall thingsrifle paper co. phone case //  one of my favorite quotes // the album i can’t stop listening to // shoes that seem amazing // one of my favorite hats // a nail polish look i’d love to try out // my fall addiction

once i get into a routine i tend to stick with it for a while, becoming mildly obsessed with different aspects of it. now that fall finally has arrived i have a few things that i more than love and can’t get enough of.

i happen to be absolutely obsessed with that leopard phone case. i’ve been using my rifle paper co. new york phone case since this summer and it’s amazing. it hasn’t gotten messed up after being dropped more times than i’d like to admit so i haven’t felt the need to change my phone case… until now.

thanks to pinterest i can now keep all of my favorite quotes in one place, which has been a blessing and a curse. once i’m on pinterest i can’t get off, and since i have a soft spot for inspirational sayings, i could spend a ridiculous amount of time compiling one of my inspirational boards.

i love music, especially anything that is folksy/indie. during my heyday in high school i was a big dashboard confessional fan… chris carrabba was my boy. the other day i wish watching reign (a new cw show that i LOVE) and a scene came on that i was instantly obsessed with. first, the main character was dancing in the middle of a ballroom with her best friends in a scene straight out of my dreams, and second the background song was literally perfect. after a little stalking i found that the band in question was twin forks and the song was back to you, and unsurprisingly my boy, chris carrabba, was a lead singer of this new band. i’ve had their EP on repeat for the past few days, and i recommend you take a listen! (back to you is actually great)

i love almost anything leopard. i’ve been eyeing these slippers for what seems like forever but at this point i can’t find them anywhere. hopefully they’ll pop up on a discount site one of these days, but until then i’ll keep searching.

now that it’s getting cold i can FINALLY enjoy chai lattes. for me they happen to be highly addictive, so i caved and had my first one last week. once i kick off the chai season i consume an insane amount… this year i’m going to try my hardest to practice more control.

thanks to my mane of hair i am a collector of baseball caps. usually i always have one in my bag, and other than my college baseball cap, i love wearing the one above.

i have been waiting to try out matte nails for the longest time, and i love how it looks with black nail polish. if i finish work early tonight, this is something i will definitely try out.

classical music, indie, music, study playlist, study songs

tumblr_mkhg15C2ze1r7n4ueo1_500my musical taste tends to be widespread… one second i may be listening to major lazer and the next song is most likely the 1812 overture. this isn’t an exaggeration, because this happened to me earlier today. when it comes to studying though i usually have a steady playlist i’ll listen to. sometimes its classical, sometimes it’s oldies and other times its a random group of songs i threw together in a playlist. typically they’re “soothing” in the sense that i can listen to them nonstop and not get distracted, especially when i’m studying and looking for any distraction i can get. so without further ado, here are my current favorite “study songs”:

ode to joy // beecham choral society, rene leibowitz & royal philharmonic orchestra

big parade // the lumineers

wait for me // kings of leon

once there was a hushpuppy // beasts of the southern wild soundtrack

joanna // deaf joe

song for zula // phosphorescent

walk in the trees // the spectacular now soundtrack

all i want // kodaline

to build a home // the cinematic orchestra

1812 overture (finale) // charles gerhardt & philharmonic symphony of london

you and i // ingrid michaelson

laura palmer // bastille

young blood // the naked and famous

during the week while i’m driving to work (pretending i’m going to the beach) i listen to my summer playlist. nonstop. i’m the kind of person who gets easily frustrated by radio commercials or songs i don’t like on the radio. you wouldn’t think it’s a bad quality to have, but i start to freak out a tad bit when i can’t find songs to listen to. although i love when one of my favorite songs plays on the radio, sometimes the wait isn’t worth it. instead i turn to my summer sounds (so cheesy), and they keep me calm enough to not enter another state of mind, road rage.

1. pompeii by bastille

2. cowboy boots by macklemore & ryan lewis

3. unbelievers by vampire weekend

4. american pie by don mclean

5. drunk in the woods by walk the moon

6. wagon wheel by old crow medicine show

7. the walker by fitz & the tantrums

8. sweet home alabama by lynyrd skynyrd

9. i will wait by mumford & sons

10. i’m gonna be (500 miles) by the proclaimers (i tend to scream, not sing, this one)

11. something i need by onerepublic

12. alive by empire of the sun

13. safe & sound by capitol cities

14. carried away by passion pit

15. counting stars by one republic

16. tightrope by walk the moon

17. home by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros

18. ho hey by the lumineers

19. born in the usa by bruce springsteen

20. on top of the world by imagine dragons

listen up!

bastille, music, passion pit, spring

spring playlistthis may be really embarrassing, but i’ll admit i put a lot of thought into the titles of my blog posts. no joke. i’ll sit there and try to think of something witty or puny, and if it doesn’t happen i might even write about something totally different. sometimes i put pressure on myself for the weirdest reasons, and i admit this is one of those reasons. i do like today’s title though, so i guess i can continue with this post, and not judge myself too hard… anyways, i’ve begun making my spring playlist, but funny story it snowed yesterday, and since all my posts now included the weirdness of dc weather i had to include it here. i literally woke up for my 8 am class yesterday, put on my utility jacket with those puffy fur-lined hoods (not real, i swear), wrapped myself in a scarf and made the trek over to class. i love snow, but i was listening to my spring playlist while trying to move my fingers. it’s cool though, i mean i’m open to new experiences, but this is a bit too much. i started spring cleaning the other day, and had to stop and take my sweaters out again… what is that? i hope this is my last weather related post, so for now i’m just going to listen to my spring playlist and pretend i’m walking to class in a skirt, sandals and t-shirt, instead of shivering and running for cover.

photo-11so february is winding to a close, and i’m entering that state of mind where i begin to freak out a tad bit. yes midterms are over, but when you’re in a business school, double majoring in marketing and finance and minoring in a completely different field of study a.k.a classical studies, this time is more than a bit stressful. trying to transition between these two completely different fields while studying is not fun, but hopefully it’ll be rewarding in the end. otherwise i’ll just buy myself some ben and jerry’s greek fro yo, and eat the whole carton.. it’s fro yo, i won’t feel too badly. actually, i won’t feel bad at all. anyhow, february is ending and spring is getting closer and i want everything to slow down a little bit. or maybe i need to slow down, and try to process everything at a slower rate, but that’s easier said then done, isn’t it?photo-9photo-8

grammys, i will wait, mumford and sons, music

tumblr_lr4fw5ml0U1r1iyfho1_500last night i happened to miss my boys perform… yes, i refer to mumford & sons as my boys, and yes, missing them wasn’t a good time for me. i started watching the grammys literally right after they performed, so i have spent the majority of today watching their performance over and over. they happen to be coming into town (aka dc) this week, and tickets sold out in under six minutes. six minutes. i was in class and unable to purchase said tickets, even though i’ve been waiting to see them for years.. so unless i work out some last minute deal, or delve into the world of craigslist, me finally seeing my favorite band in concert won’t be happening. instead i’ve put together a group of “rustic” photos which i like to look out while listening to the babel soundtrack. seriously, try it out, the combination just works. tumblr_mg0eki0Aho1r9ouy2o1_500tumblr_mgac2aGJ731qa431co1_1280tumblr_mg9e7yYsfr1r5eg77o1_1280

fall, mumford and sons, music, the killers, the lumineers

slowly, but surely i am putting together my fall playlist. if you’re wondering why i need a fall playlist, don’t worry i ask myself that too.. (but, it’s necessary, trust me.) i can’t wait for d.c. to get colder, have its leaves start to change, and hopefully i can acquire the taste for starbucks pumpkin spice lattes (even though i can’t stand the taste of coffee with a burning passion). maybe i can just take the espresso out, add chai, and pretend it’s the real thing? ramblings aside, enjoy the playlist above until my next post!
