earring collagei’ve had this collage chilling on my desktop for a month, a whole entire month. don’t forget the fact that i have a little post it-note reminding me to write about these earrings. did i do that? no. should i have? maybe. there are times i put together posts a little bit in advance so i don’t fall behind, but sometimes it happens anyway. especially right now. with daylight savings comes the loss of time and sleep, add traveling back to school on top of that, and don’t forget throwing yourself right back into homework, and you can see why putting posts up can sometimes get iffy. the intentions are all there i swear, but sometimes i feel bleh and they all go out the window. so instead of getting completely off topic, the earrings pictured above happen to be elizabeth cole pieces, and i’m obsessed. i’d like to say i could rock the fishbones, but that might be the delusional, tired me speaking… the parrots on the other hand seem SUPER functional and simple, so i’ll definitely try to fit them into my everyday wardrobe!!

tumblr_mh6snwbF741qd3bpyo1_500so i made it home for spring break, and have definitely taken this week as a chance to unwind, work out and lay in bed listening to stay by rihanna (no joke). see how i threw work out in there between relaxing? it makes me seem athletic and fit, but in reality i’m capable of sleeping until 2 pm. mind you, post-workout i literally feel like i’m incapable of breathing… plus, i look super pretty right after i get off the treadmill. anyways, the focus of this post is on the color red. i used to be averse to wearing it, but i always loved it. i also had an obsession with red lipstick which i never attempted to try until the lipstick chili flake (sold at j.crew) came into my life. if there has been anything the color red has taught me, it’s to not be afraid to take risks, because sometimes they work out (and yes, sometimes they don’t) and when they do it feels great. i feel like red can make almost anything BAM, so i found pictures which seem pretty BAM to me. yeah, i just made BAM an adjective, just go with it?

photo-11so february is winding to a close, and i’m entering that state of mind where i begin to freak out a tad bit. yes midterms are over, but when you’re in a business school, double majoring in marketing and finance and minoring in a completely different field of study a.k.a classical studies, this time is more than a bit stressful. trying to transition between these two completely different fields while studying is not fun, but hopefully it’ll be rewarding in the end. otherwise i’ll just buy myself some ben and jerry’s greek fro yo, and eat the whole carton.. it’s fro yo, i won’t feel too badly. actually, i won’t feel bad at all. anyhow, february is ending and spring is getting closer and i want everything to slow down a little bit. or maybe i need to slow down, and try to process everything at a slower rate, but that’s easier said then done, isn’t it?photo-9photo-8

kerr-bloom-ferguson-w724so realistically speaking, i should be commenting on the best dresses at the oscars, which there were many of. instead i chose to do something different, which is something i always seem to be doing.. sorry, can’t help it! you know how different writers and artists have muses? well maybe in some weird alternative universe i could be robert frost’s muse, because that whole “i took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” has meg written all over it. now these less traveled roads are not always the best of ideas, but it’s worth it to say you at least tried. okay, back to business, sorry for tangent-ing, per usual. my favorite dresses from oscar’s night actually showed up at the vanity fair after party, and i basically would have loved to attend, but i guess my invite got lost in the mail. it’s all good though, because next year i’ll so be ready, rocking a unique dress, making robert proud. article-0-18449A7E000005DC-206_634x859oscars-afterparty-dresses-lily-collins-h724oscars-afterparty-dresses-amy-adams-h724oscars-afterparty-dresses-solange-h724

sneakers

i will admit that i like sneakers. i like them a lot. i can easily switch from wearing ballet flats into a pair of high tops and feel completely comfortable with the way it looks (even if my brother doesn’t agree). my brother is a self-professed “sneakerhead”, and knows an unfathomable amount of information about the sneaker world. he can tell you about the start of the jordan brand, the best possible way to obtain a pair of sneakers through an online seller (it’s not as sketchy as it sounds… or that’s what he tells me), along with the proper preparation and shopping route/operation necessary to get the newest pair of sneakers (honestly, it’s intense.. i’d be scared). the release of the lebron 9 south beaches was a big deal in my house, let me tell you… although i don’t know as much as my brother about the sneaker world, i do know a fair share about shoes and “regular people” sneakers, thank you very much. until then i’ll wait for my next visit back home, filled with updates on how my brother’s “business” is going.

photo copy 7last month i made the jump to instagram. yes, instagram. this may seem like it isn’t a big deal, but it has very much taken over a small (or significant) part of my life. i promise i won’t allow myself to enter the mindset where i can’t do something without instagraming it first, but it goes without saying that somehow instagram makes everything look better. that outfit you take a photo of suddenly becomes THAT OUTFIT, even if it isn’t that special… nothing wrong with a little deceiving though!

there are certain ways to gauge whether or not i happen to be tired. some of the signs are: falling asleep in my 12.30 pm class, typing words that i thought were english but happen to be my own dialect (it’s not impressive, it’s discouraging..), dreaming about chai lattes, etc. the biggest indicator that i’m tired is my ability to get dressed. yes, get dressed. obviously i always put on clothes, but the amount of thought which i put into my outfits depends on how rested i feel. i may have an outfit idea the night before (which might make me feel like a fashion maverick), but as soon as i wake up the next morning, bright and early at 7 am, i find myself grumbling about the state of my life. next thing i know i’m grabbing a pair of workout leggings, flats, and a sweater. still acceptable, but not what i originally had planned. so i found a few photos which i will look to for comfy-chic class inspiration, but i plan on downplaying a few of the combinations… can’t get too ambitious, now can we?

tumblr_mbjik1PCOe1riy8nao1_500i love this quote, plain and simple. sometimes in life you can try to make everyone happy, please everyone, but in the end you yourself won’t be happy, or true to yourself. finals are coming up (along with christmas!!) but during this time i need to take these words to heart. it may be a bit straightforward, but it gets the point across.

so as an ode to “following your intuition” here is a tribute to shoes, and legs, and walking in the literal sense, but try to envision the figurative message i’m trying to convey..

for me, the end of november signals the end of fall, and all the crisp leaves and autumnal colors that come with it. although winter technically doesn’t arrive until the 21st of december, as soon as december 1st hits i’m in complete winter/holiday mode (which you all will soon see). those famous words immortalized through the outsiders, robert frost’s words may seem ominous, but in reality it’s how you choose to interpret these words.. and i believe there comes a time for us to move on, and accept change, even though it may not be easy.

this friday i will not be participating in black friday due to an out-of-nowhere surgery because of a wisdom tooth gone awry. instead i’ll have to wait until cyber monday, and hopefully make some purchases then..  if any of those items end up going on sale, i’ll snatch them up in a second. or i may be on too many painkillers and end up missing the whole thing. two thumbs up for modern medicine!
