there are certain ways to gauge whether or not i happen to be tired. some of the signs are: falling asleep in my 12.30 pm class, typing words that i thought were english but happen to be my own dialect (it’s not impressive, it’s discouraging..), dreaming about chai lattes, etc. the biggest indicator that i’m tired is my ability to get dressed. yes, get dressed. obviously i always put on clothes, but the amount of thought which i put into my outfits depends on how rested i feel. i may have an outfit idea the night before (which might make me feel like a fashion maverick), but as soon as i wake up the next morning, bright and early at 7 am, i find myself grumbling about the state of my life. next thing i know i’m grabbing a pair of workout leggings, flats, and a sweater. still acceptable, but not what i originally had planned. so i found a few photos which i will look to for comfy-chic class inspiration, but i plan on downplaying a few of the combinations… can’t get too ambitious, now can we?
here are a few of my favorite outfits this week… i can’t get enough of brooklyn blonde’s look or the atelier’s outfit (already have an outfit inspired by it!)
on a final note, can we all just admire that asos gold sequin skirt on brooklyn blonde? that outfit is truly perfection.
hey there guys! after moving back to school last weekend, i’m back and ready to get my life in lipstick up and running again.. i needed a bit of time to settle in, but classes are starting up again and i’m slowly, but surely developing a routine. speaking of getting myself together and staying in the loop with my school work, i wanted to share something very cool with you all. i have had the amazing opportunity to partner up with a chain of stores in my town (loop, gallery couture, and the gibson) to blog about some of my favorite pieces and outfits from time to time (or school break to school break).
this post started off as a one time thing, but i tend to like so many outfits on various blogs, and this happens so often that i decided to make this into a continuous post. some blogs i follow are similar to each other and others have no semblance of similarities to their counterparts, but i love them nonetheless!
so i know the words black and blue evoke the grossness that are bruises, but if you get past that imagery, it’s actually quite a nice color combination. even though they’re both dark tones, they are complementary and can make an outfit. obsession could probably define my relationship with those tech cases, and i can not wait until i can get them before i head off to school!
every day i love waking up and checking my daily blog list. whenever there’s a new post that i love i make sure to save the photo and find similar inspiration in my own closet. these are a few of my favorite looks from this week:
yesterday i popped into madewell after work (like i almost always do) and started talking to some of the employees about the fall 2012 line. i was allowed to take a peak at the upcoming window displays, and let me tell you, it was amazing. the shoes alone are out of this world and i am counting down until this collection is released in stores. head over to madewell.com for a sneak peek at their fall collection. i promise you won’t be disappointed! I love everything about the fourth of july, and count it as one of my favorite holidays. This year in fashion stars and stripes have been all the rage. From star-printed dresses to nautical striped tops, they’re everywhere. The color combination of red and blue hasn’t just been reserved for the fourth, but has made its appearances in many a fashion line. Go check out J.Crew’s website and you’ll know what I mean. I love “patriotic fashion” and these following bloggers have some of my favorite takes on this look:
Two things I love about the summer: sequins and seashells. I’ve seen sequins pop up everywhere, especially J.Crew! Seashells are a part of my love for the beach, but I love a touch of them, either in a bracelet, necklace or printed across a gorgeous scarf. The mermaid trend was seen all throughout the SS ’12 runway shows, and I couldn’t be happier. These next few pieces would be a step in the way to achieving my own Ariel dream!
This ASOS pencil skirt to me is a mermaid tail come to life. Ever since I was little and would watch “The Little Mermaid” on repeat, I’d imagine being able to swim under the sea like Ariel. This skirt is the closest I think I could come to it! The array of peach, pearl and gold, the pattern the sequins make and the fit are all just stunning. I seriously hope to add this skirt to my wardrobe (summer job I’m counting on you!)
This scarf has the most amazing pattern, seahorses, shells, starfish, and on and on. I love the light blue mixed with gold and the affordable price. Thank you ASOS! I’d pair this as a belt around a white shirtdress with some fun gold wedges, or as a hair scarf with a white v-neck and some cuffed up boyfriend jeans.
There were only sixty of these skirts made for J.Crew Collection, and I have a feeling I won’t be getting one of them 🙂 A bit expensive, but the detail of the pattern, the blue sequins and the fact that the skirt is pull on (a plus!) makes for a fun, but elegant summer skirt. I’d pair it with a white button down knotted at the waistband, tan leather gladiators and a messy ponytail.
Simple, but still gorgeous I love this shell bracelet from Mirabelle, and it’s currently on sale at ASOS. The gold band itself is delicate and refined, but then there’s the shell which gives it a more outdoorsy feel.
This J.Crew skirt is definitely out of my price range, but that doesn’t mean I can’t love it! The combination of colors (sea and sand), the silhouette, and the sequins all put this skirt on my favorites list.
Since I’ve been working at J.Crew for the past few days, moving boxes and scanning items to prepare the new store, my outfits aren’t exactly post worthy. So instead I’ve decided to share my favorite outfits in this past week from some of my favorite fashion bloggers!
Sincerely, Jules is amazing! Her style is very California cool, but always manages to be chic. Everything she wears always seems to be effortless, but look amazing. This outfit is an example of that.
I LOVE the combination of boyfriend jeans and heels, there’s something about it that just works. The sweater here, from J.Crew is on my lust list also.. (it keeps growing, not. good.) Also, Rachel from The Pink Peonies always pulls off great lip colors, which is an added plus!
This outfit has already inspired a similar counterpart in my closet. This totally works, from the red lips, to the stripes, to the crisp white dress. I love it and think gal meets glam does a great job of showcasing cute, casual, but girly outfits!
Tip Number 2 just speaks to me… Yes, I’m not crazy, it speaks to me! I have an obsession with leather skirts and white button downs and I think this tip is great for the summer. I already want to break out my leather pencil skirt, throw on a white linen shirt, nude J.Crew suede ceces and gold hoops. Thank you who what wear for this great article!
And last, but not least this super cute and colorful look from cupcakes and cashmere. I love the combination of texture, material and color. It is just gorgeous. I plan to imitate this with my hot pink madewell tank dress and black racerback tank top!
