stalking the internet on the daily comes with the territory of having a “lifestyle” blog. i write about so many different things on here, so the links i tend to post are typically all different things. so if you’re reading this and wondering how any of these relate to each other, they don’t, but i like them all regardless.

i love anything romantic, and sappy, and sentimental. if it’s really, really cheesy i can’t take it, but if there are subtle nuances of sappy romance i’m all over it. for that reason, this link, which shows the best love speeches in movies, is everything.

throughout my time writing this blog i feel like i’ve mentioned that i love lions. they are my favorite animals for multiple reasons: i’m a leo through and through (my horoscopes are almost always spot-on), my hair has lioness tendencies, favorite movie is lion king, etc. basically the list goes on and on… for that reason, these lion prints are amazing and i may have to invest in one at some point in my life.

although i may not be a boy, j.crew has the best cheat sheet up for men’s winter fashion. i love the layout of their items along with what they chose, and so much of it looks incredibly comfortable and warm.

not the biggest cheese fan, but this grilled cheese post actually looks delicious, and makes me want one of those sandwiches right about now.

bradley gather of luella & june had the most beautiful and unique wedding reception, and i’m obsessed.

a middle school football team did something amazing recently that had me tearing up. if you need your faith restored in humanity, this is it.

these apple hand pies look delicious and easy to make. if you’re having a fall get-together and need to impress your guests, i recommend trying this recipe out.

once i get into a routine i tend to stick with it for a while, becoming mildly obsessed with different aspects of it. now that fall finally has arrived i have a few things that i more than love and can’t get enough of.

i happen to be absolutely obsessed with that leopard phone case. i’ve been using my rifle paper co. new york phone case since this summer and it’s amazing. it hasn’t gotten messed up after being dropped more times than i’d like to admit so i haven’t felt the need to change my phone case… until now.

thanks to pinterest i can now keep all of my favorite quotes in one place, which has been a blessing and a curse. once i’m on pinterest i can’t get off, and since i have a soft spot for inspirational sayings, i could spend a ridiculous amount of time compiling one of my inspirational boards.

i love music, especially anything that is folksy/indie. during my heyday in high school i was a big dashboard confessional fan… chris carrabba was my boy. the other day i wish watching reign (a new cw show that i LOVE) and a scene came on that i was instantly obsessed with. first, the main character was dancing in the middle of a ballroom with her best friends in a scene straight out of my dreams, and second the background song was literally perfect. after a little stalking i found that the band in question was twin forks and the song was back to you, and unsurprisingly my boy, chris carrabba, was a lead singer of this new band. i’ve had their EP on repeat for the past few days, and i recommend you take a listen! (back to you is actually great)

i love almost anything leopard. i’ve been eyeing these slippers for what seems like forever but at this point i can’t find them anywhere. hopefully they’ll pop up on a discount site one of these days, but until then i’ll keep searching.

now that it’s getting cold i can FINALLY enjoy chai lattes. for me they happen to be highly addictive, so i caved and had my first one last week. once i kick off the chai season i consume an insane amount… this year i’m going to try my hardest to practice more control.

thanks to my mane of hair i am a collector of baseball caps. usually i always have one in my bag, and other than my college baseball cap, i love wearing the one above.

i have been waiting to try out matte nails for the longest time, and i love how it looks with black nail polish. if i finish work early tonight, this is something i will definitely try out.

guys, today is the first day of october, and i am legitimately freaking out. once october rolls around i feel like fall is officially here, and i couldn’t be more excited. i am a cold weather, crispy leaves, pumpkin-flavored anything, cozy sweater, roaring fire, boot wearing kind of person. (that was a mouthful, i know) the thought of leaves changing, the smell of fall filling the air, and that first really chilly day makes me deliriously happy. you may or may not be reading this and thinking this girl is incredibly dramatic, a bit crazy, and more obsessed with fall than she should be, but you’re right. from now until december, i’m in my favorite three month period of the year and i couldn’t be happier. if you think i’m freaking out now, just wait until december rolls around…

sometimes i sit for ages, trying to figure out what to title a post. today is one of those days where i feel my title describes exactly how i feel. it’s a snippet of a line from the great gatsby by f. scott fitzgerald, but if you know the rest of the quote and you keep reading, i think you’ll understand why i chose it.

twelve years ago today, worlds were turned upside down, and lives were changed forever. i come from a small town on long island, a commuter town, and the majority of residents head into the city every single day. twelve years ago today my hometown lost almost fifty residents, and it’s something that will forever be a part of the legacy of my little long island town.

it seems like yesterday when i was at recess talking to one of my friends, trying to reassure her that her dad would be okay even though he worked in the twin towers. i had no idea if he truly was okay, but i did as much reassuring as a third grader could. i remember watching the news with my friends, while our moms were sitting together talking about things i couldn’t even begin to process at that age. i remember being at recess a few days later when smoke started seeping onto the field, and the teachers had to huddle all the children inside, attempting to keep us calm. i remember the masses we prayed at, the memorial services we attended, and the period of waiting. i still remember the waiting… my dad waiting to hear about his friends, and me at a young age asking where certain people were, not realizing that such a simple question could cause so much pain.

there are certain moments that stay with us forever, and for me 9/11 is one of them. no matter how many years pass or how young i was, there are things you don’t forget, and even at a young age i understood that. as a country we seem to forever be in the process of moving forward, but our past will always be a part of us.

i kid you not i have had this post planned out since august, but in typical meg fashion i got excited with other ideas and kept on rotating links in a folder, leaving them waiting to be unveiled. coming back to school after being gone for the whole summer is one of the craziest times ever, and while this is my third year of doing it, it doesn’t make it any less chaotic. as of right now the main though crossing my mind seems to be, “what is sleep?” i kind of have forgotten, but i’m slowly getting myself into a schedule… i’m even in the library right now, so steps are being taken, i swear.

so without further ado, here are some links that i have been loving:

i’m back at georgetown and honestly it feels like i never left.. i’ve said this multiple times, but it’s so true. once i step foot on campus and see healy hall for the first time, it’s as if summer barely happened. this semester will most definitely be a different one (friends studying abroad, new classes, clubs to administer, etc.), but i couldn’t be more excited. as of now i’m still working with my roommates to finish up our apartment (it takes time!), but when it’s done i promise all photos will be up here. my bedroom is a totally different story though… i have yet to tackle putting away my shoes and i still don’t think i’m ready for it.

now for the “coolest” part of this post… the illustration above was created for me by inslee. i interviewed her last year for the her campus georgetown branch, and afterwards was able to work with her to commission a print. i basically wanted a georgetown girl, and inslee more than delivered. while i was way too afraid to transport this to college with me (it’s hanging in a frame at home), i figured printing it out and putting in a frame here at school would work just as well. so until next time, which i promise will be soon, hoya saxa. ten weeks ago i started a new job that without a doubt changed my life. now i won’t lie and say i was able to blog as much as i used to to, but honestly it’s okay. some of you may be thinking, “no, no it’s not”, but if there’s one thing i’ve learned this summer it’s that you can’t sweat the small stuff. for the past few weeks i interned for l’oreal in the consumer products division, aka i’d been working with l’oreal, maybelline, garnier and essie. working as a field intern i racked up many a mile on my trusty car named “duke” (she’s the man inspired), but when you drive a lot:

1. you become really comfortable navigating the road (especially multiple turnpikes, highways, etc.)

2. practicing your singing becomes commonplace. i have a really good rendition of treasure by bruno mars under my belt

3. sometimes road rage is just uncontrollable… especially in bumper to bumper traffic.

literally shaved off the back of my leg the night before my final presentation… only me.

i can’t believe it’s over, because it seems like yesterday i was starting and feeling completely confused by all the beauty talk. (literally didn’t know half the terms, but i nodded along anyway) nowadays i can walk into a drugstore and identify all the products (it’s involuntary at this point), plus i can now set up a whole entire wall, which is a really cool feeling… except for the time i almost destroyed a beyonce graphic. so now that it’s over i can sit back and reflect a little bit. was it amazing? yes. was it a lot of work? without a doubt. would i have changed anything? nope, not at all.
