6a00d83451595d69e20120a6fe7499970b-800wiwithin some of my wildest hopes and dreams is my desire to one day attend a show at new york fashion week… while looking at photos of different shows is great, and it may cause uncontrollable envy and serious clothing lust, being at a show is still something i would love to experience. since i’m in college in a place that doesn’t happen to be in new york and since i don’t have any invites, it’s not like i even have an option to attend. but STILL, a girl can dream.

instead of doing school work i spent a good amount of time stalking some of my favorite designers and seeing which had looks i can’t seem to forget. i easily could have included way too many pictures, and things could have gotten out of hand, but i decided to narrow it down to a few shows: rebecca minkoff, mara hoffman, and j.crew. hope you all become just as obsessed as i am! (but really)

tumblr_mn2r08RIgN1qa3061o1_500i am not a big fan of business dressing. this is something that needs to be put out there, because i happen to be in the business school at my college and business attire is normal. for someone like me, who likes to spice up an outfit with jewelry or a bright lip, a black pantsuit makes me feel way too restricted. the other day i was trying to figure out an outfit for two upcoming events i have to go.. one of them is the her campus national conference and the other is a rent the runway speaking event. back at georgetown i’m one the girls in charge of the best team (in my opinion), and i’m a blogger for their network too, so obviously i amgoing to attend (the sunday conference is open to readers, so jump on that ladies!)… before i get off track (which i already am), the dress code for these events is what made me even more excited. instead of business or business casual, it’s “business chic”, and that is something i can work with. so while i get ready for this upcoming weekend, i plan on imagining up more outfits than i could possibly wear… but to be all cheesy, a girl’s gotta dream, right?

for my internship i’ve been sticking to the same uniform: black skinny jeans, a nice shirt (or t-shirt if i know i’m going to get dirty), and ballet flats. luckily i love wearing all three of these things, so it’s been working out, but every once in a while i love dressing up. i’m not really feeling the possibility of ruining my clothes, so i tend to do that thing where i vicariously live through bloggers/plan out regular outfits for the weekend when it is totally unnecessary. for example, i am seeing the lumineers in a few weeks and i couldn’t be more excited… so like the insane person that i am, i’ve been planning out outfits in my head repeatedly. at this point, i’m up to outfit number three, but i know i won’t be settling for anything soon. at least i’m honest with myself..

as many of you guys know i am more than obsessed with stripes… it’s really bad. i see them, in any form, and try to convince myself its necessary to get them. it’s a habit i’m breaking, but a habit nonetheless. anyways, the majority of bloggers i follow tend to rock stripes in so many different ways. the upside about this is that i can dream up different outfits with pieces i already have thanks to these blogs. the downside is that i may see them wearing something that i could define as life-changing (me being dramatic) and favorite it, watch it obsessively, hoping it goes on sale, ultimately falling into an endless cycle.

elliott3a few months ago i wrote about one of my favorite bloggers, sincerely, jules, and how much i wish i could look as stylish as her a in sweatshirt. if i could pull of a sweatshirt like she does i would do it all the time.. (currently working on this since i just look like a mess). anyways, i decided to start a series where i’d feature some of my favorite outfits from some of my favorite bloggers. even though i’ve already done a post on jules before, i had to do an updated one. as i mentioned before the only way i can think of to describe her is simply that she is the shit. pardon me, but it’s true. her style is the definition of california cool, and if anyone could push me to wear a pair of high tops with a dress or heels during the day, it’s jules. i love how i talk as if i know her, even though i clearly don’t, but she is one of those bloggers you want to know. i could totally see us hanging out at the beach or browsing the shelves at zara, but that sounds so creepy so i’m going to stop. all in all she seems like a fashion buddy/a friend you’d want at your side, so i’m more than happy to kick off this series with her.  bcnbraid2memorylane7 newstuff surfbarcelona8 nordstromsavvy10 memorylane6

tumblr_mn3xq7e8eJ1qim02bo1_500i have a confession to make… i’ve hopped onto the pinterest bandwagon. when i say i fought this for about a year, i’m not kidding. i even made an account and then refused to use it, but it was for a good reason. i knew i’d become addicted, and i was right. knowing me i couldn’t just have any names for my boards, so when i tell you that i spent a good time brainstorming some “witty names” (that aren’t all that witty) i’m not exaggerating. pinterest has become a process, but it’s a process i love. planning for next year’s dorm decorations has already begun, and i have been working on my summer loving board like no tomorrow. if i’ve been off of my computer for a while i will sit and scroll back until i find my last pin, and start looking at other pins from there. i’d say i wasn’t addicted, but that’s a lie… (seeing that i have every possible form of it downloaded: phone, iPad, etc.) i’m still on the hunt for other pinners to follow, which gives me just another excuse to keep on pinning… or this whole post may be a cry for help in stopping this obsession (but not really).tumblr_mgr2r6uyZY1rd9ycko1_5002c75bdabf838a26131966fa0e3d01caftumblr_mkjnjxBt8S1r7304ko1_500d1fab949e1c57019844edd9e3f234655

tumblr_m281uxkuZa1qiaempo1_500i have made the decision to start a new little series on sundays… i figure sundays are relaxing, rest days, and i wanted to do a post that was pretty straightforward and easy to browse through. so the following are a few things i’ve been loving:

1. i’m a huge fan of wearing white dresses during the summer. in one of my recent posts i mentioned how it’s almost all i wear, and that’s pretty true. this article has so many great suggestions for ways to style them.

2. this book has appeared on so many summer reading lists i’ve seen, so i decided to add it to mine.

3. there are quite a few husband and wife duos in the most recent edition of matchbook, and i love it. one of the bigger focuses of this edition is interior design, and each spread has a fun, summery appeal.

4. i am a big fan of walk the moon, but i didn’t discover this song until recently. now i’m obsessed, and i think you will be too.

5. decorating is one of my favorite things, and since discovering this cheers sign i can’t get it out of my head. hanging near a dining area or the hall outside our kitchen in my dorm next year seems close to perfect to me.

6. hello shirt dress that seems to be made for me. the print and the material are great for summer, but can easily be taken into fall.

7. the title of my blog definitely gives away the fact i love beauty, so i couldn’t be more excited to find this new blog, the sparkle. it’s a great lifestyle blog that has the perfect beauty balance going on.

8. last but not least, this ring is pretty cool. the only issue is i can’t really wear rings because they never fit my fingers. it’s a lion so it’s meant to be because i’m a leo, and it happens to come in a size 8 (not only 6 and 7, like usual), so this one may just work.

i am a huge fan of the graphic shirt. for me they’re up there with stripes, and although i don’t have nearly as many as i do stripes, i still treasure them. graphic shirts may not be your thing, and you could be looking at this and thinking, “why?”. but if there’s a part of you that wants to try them, please go for it! they are so easy to wear casually, or dress up. i love to do both… for example, one of my favorite shirts looks great with a pair of leggings and cream colored lo-top converse, but it looks just as good tucked into a tan leather skirt with a pair of flats.

i’ve mentioned this before, but i have this bookmark folder that happens to be the bane of my existence. yes, this is dramatic, but it isn’t healthy. this folder is called the lust list, items which i want really badly, but will hold out on until they go on sale (meaning i most likely won’t get them). the tricky part is that more often than not these items sell out, and i’m left with non-buyer’s remorse. i’ll also delete items from this list, but they’re still in my memory (and my shopping cart), so they’re never truly gone. there is one item, the ragini sandals, that i check up on multiple times during the day, since there is only one shoe left in my size in stock. yes, i’m still waiting it out, hoping that this site will notice these last two sizes aren’t selling and mark it down. not to mention i have an insane amount of outfits planned out around these shoes, but i still haven’t gotten them. knowing my luck these shoes will be gone once i do this post….

tumblr_mlgmhpKjbS1qa9ddao1_500i am back in good ol’ new york, and finally i feel like i can sleep! while unpacking my room i have also been preparing for a new job, so it’s been nothing short of busy. not to mention i injured my hand so it is currently wrapped in a little cast, making typing not too easy. once my room is done (i’ll post about it) i can finally feel settled in. one of the upsides of coming home is feeling like you don’t have to dress up, basically it’s okay to live in workout pants and t-shirts. i’ve realized i need to break this pattern and fast, so here are some outfits i am absolutely loving.
