i’m back at georgetown and honestly it feels like i never left.. i’ve said this multiple times, but it’s so true. once i step foot on campus and see healy hall for the first time, it’s as if summer barely happened. this semester will most definitely be a different one (friends studying abroad, new classes, clubs to administer, etc.), but i couldn’t be more excited. as of now i’m still working with my roommates to finish up our apartment (it takes time!), but when it’s done i promise all photos will be up here. my bedroom is a totally different story though… i have yet to tackle putting away my shoes and i still don’t think i’m ready for it.

now for the “coolest” part of this post… the illustration above was created for me by inslee. i interviewed her last year for the her campus georgetown branch, and afterwards was able to work with her to commission a print. i basically wanted a georgetown girl, and inslee more than delivered. while i was way too afraid to transport this to college with me (it’s hanging in a frame at home), i figured printing it out and putting in a frame here at school would work just as well. so until next time, which i promise will be soon, hoya saxa. this upcoming weekend i will be heading back down to georgetown to embark on my junior year. it’s insane how quickly time flies by, and i really wish it would slow down a tad bit. the cool thing about this year is that my roommates and i will be living in an on-campus apartment, which means decorating time!! it’s really hard to plan decor for a place you aren’t living in, but i have been making some attempts. a target run here and there, window shopping in anthropologie, and a few days spent doing some d.i.y. projects will hopefully all pay off. the good thing about our apartment is that we have a big living room, which gives us a lot to work with, but on the other hand the bedrooms are so tiny.. the struggle to pack clothing this year is seriously real. when everything is finally put together i’ll be sure to post a few photos on here, but until then i figured i’d share some of the photos that inspired me!

so when i started to decide what photos to put in this post i was not expecting to get nostalgic, but of course i did. gathering up a few photos should be easy, but it isn’t once you start realizing how much time has gone by. although some of these photos seem like yesterday, they weren’t. i’m officially in my last week of sophomore year, halfway done with college, and i don’t really know where the time went. one minute i’m taking a photo of the first cherry blossom blooms this spring, or enjoying my first coffee, and in the next minute i’m figuring out what to pack to go home. (last year’s move out was straight out of hell… my mom and brother can back me up on that one) leaving school isn’t easy, i always get emotional (such an understatement), and hopefully this end-of-the-year farewell will be easier for me. in a sense, i feel like harry every time he’s leaving hogwarts; if you’ve seen the movies you know what i mean. at the end of every movie (or almost every movie) harry says bye to all his friends and off he goes. it always made me so sad, but now i get why.. leaving your friends and your home isn’t exactly a good time. georgetown has become home for me, and even though i’m leaving soon i will be back again, just like harry. (sorry, i had to)

there are certain ways to gauge whether or not i happen to be tired. some of the signs are: falling asleep in my 12.30 pm class, typing words that i thought were english but happen to be my own dialect (it’s not impressive, it’s discouraging..), dreaming about chai lattes, etc. the biggest indicator that i’m tired is my ability to get dressed. yes, get dressed. obviously i always put on clothes, but the amount of thought which i put into my outfits depends on how rested i feel. i may have an outfit idea the night before (which might make me feel like a fashion maverick), but as soon as i wake up the next morning, bright and early at 7 am, i find myself grumbling about the state of my life. next thing i know i’m grabbing a pair of workout leggings, flats, and a sweater. still acceptable, but not what i originally had planned. so i found a few photos which i will look to for comfy-chic class inspiration, but i plan on downplaying a few of the combinations… can’t get too ambitious, now can we?

i’m going to be a bit m.i.a. due to finals, so to tide you all over until the next post (and to give me something nice to look at), here are some wonderful holiday photos. i don’t mind the lead up to finals, because i tend to either study for long periods of time and then procrastinate/bake for the rest. sea salted chocolate chip cookies, anyone? yes, this may be productively procrastinating, but what’s a girl to do?

yes, this happened. no, i do not regret any of it. i purchased a medium sized cardboard deer head from cardboard safari and went to town on making him “meg-style.” basically glitter can make anything better in my opinion, but there’s a fine line between tasteful and overload. bucky here toes that line and that’s why i love him.

buying birthday presents isn’t always an easy task. sometimes the celebrant is hard to buy gifts for, the present isn’t just right, or you don’t want to spend a lot of money. in my opinion, it’s nice to give someone something special that you can do for them. for me that something special is cooking, and i figured gifting my friend with a “meal ticket” would be perfect.

one thing i really can’t stand is when i’m seriously disorganized, so you can imagine how stressful college move-in day (or days in my case) is. the roomie and i are still decorating our rooms and after moving in over a week ago, finally managed to raise her bed. i’ve given up on mine… the one thing i do have some control over right now is my desk, and it’s officially becoming a crafting station, no joke.

going into sophomore year is a totally different feeling for me… last year my nerves got the better of me (total understatement), but it all turned out great. i couldn’t be more excited to head back to georgetown, and i feel more ready and older in a way. it’s an indescribable feeling, but all in all a good one. once i have my dorm set up next week, i’ll have more posts up! until then, i’ll “see” you soon!

sophomore year is beginning next week and i couldn’t be more excited. new classes, new experiences and new moments with friends all await me, and starting sunday everything picks up again. i’m starting to pack (which has turned out to be absolutely hellish), and narrowing down clothes, jewelry, shoes and all of the above, hopefully learning from last year’s move in. for the next few days posts won’t be as frequent, but to tide you guys over i thought i’d share my dorm design scheme. i love the way everything came together, and it just so happens this is the one thing i have figured out!
